Every so often I need to advertise for a ‘Kitchen Steward’ or kitchen assistant/helper to help me with cooking classes at Cooking on the Bay. My Kitchen Steward plays an important and valued role in contributing to the participant’s enjoyment of the class. As those of you who have been here will appreciate.
This time, I thought there may be someone who has attended cooking classes at Cooking on the Bay, who would be interested in assisting here. I am seeking a ‘gem’ helper, a special person, who is a willing and able worker, preferably local or someone who does not mind a drive. This is a great job for anyone who is interested in food and cooking and would like to learn more, whilst working in the kitchen of Cooking on the Bay cooking school.
If you would like to be considered, please email me, tonya@cookingonthebay.com.au with your details and your expression of interest, before Saturday 5th February, 2022.
I have a wonderful new assistant here this year, Maria, who was a past cooking school attendee.
My current Kitchen Steward, Silvia, whom most of you would know, has worked most Saturdays and Sundays for a few years now, and is now back in her regular IT, web design work, so she would like to work fewer days. My other Kitchen Steward, Eliana, is having a baby, so I am missing my two regular staff members. I need another to join the team!
My Kitchen Steward needs to be reliable and happy to work casual, odd days. The classes are always held on Saturdays and Sundays but not every week. Occasionally there are extra days for private groups. This is a great job for anyone who is interested in food and cooking and would like to learn more, whilst working in the kitchen of Cooking on the Bay cooking school.
Cooking class days are from 8.30am until 4.30pm, most Saturdays and Sundays, as well as the occasional weekday, for private groups. The Kitchen Steward’s hours are from 9.30am – 4.30pm.
The kitchen steward is responsible in assisting with the smooth running of the class in clearing away and washing dishes, assisting in serving the luncheon and all the cleaning up afterwards.
The cooking school kitchen is a relaxed, friendly, happy working environment where guests learn to cook and then enjoy the fruits of their labour with lunch. The Kitchen Steward plays an important and valued role in contributing to the participants’ enjoyment of the class.
A neat appearance is essential; dress required is black pants, trousers or skirt with a white or black top. The apron is supplied by Cooking on the Bay. You will need sensible, comfortable shoes. Long hair needs to be tied back in hair elastics.
Coffee, morning tea, lunch with wine is provided as part of the session, you take home a set of the recipes that are cooked that day by the participants, plus the remuneration.
I look forward to hearing from you before Saturday 5th February, 2022.
