Shannon Bennett has recently opened his new, fabulous venture, The Piggerie, at Burnham Beeches in Sherbrook. He has grand plans which are in place and will be accomplished over the next few years. He has already planted a trufferie of 60 oak trees, ready in a few years’ time, to supply his restaurants, plus a few others, with those much sort after truffles.
Take yourself there to the Piggerie Cafe in Sherbrooke, and enjoy a casual breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. It is humming and welcoming. When it first opened last June, we found Shannon and his Vue de Monde team working there waiting on the tables. It is a real treat to see the place jumping with excitement and enthusiasm, plus you can Shannon’s sensationally tasty, yet simple dishes. He has built a bakery, which is supplying bread to this café; you can also buy some to take home, and he is supplying his restaurants as well as other Melbourne restaurants. There is a huge vegetable garden and orchard, a herb garden; the dairy and brewery are under-way, as well as a boutique hotel down the track. So take a visit and enjoy a casual Shannon Bennett eating experience.
